Former Alabama football wide receiver, Mike McCoy feels the Crimson Tide have a problem with its current culture under Kalen DeBoer.
McCoy addressed recent comments made by Alabama linebacker, Deontae Lawson, on Touchdown Alabama’s “Timeout Podcast.” Lawson revealed a lack of intensity at practice during the week before the Vanderbilt game led to the Commodores beating Alabama. McCoy feels this is a sign of a culture issue and something the Tide can not afford to let happen again in the future if they want to have success.
The former Alabama wideout feels it’s up to DeBoer to ensure a winning culture is in place in Tuscaloosa.
“If I’m DeBoer, I’m going to meet with Nate Oates,” DeBoer said. “I’m trying to get on the phone with Nick Saban, and then I’m gonna even call out Bruce Pearl over at Auburn, where you got guys making a substantial amount of money. ‘How are you guys able to keep your culture together? What are you guys doing?’ Because this is a new generation, and we can literally say they soft this, they that. At the end of the day, you got to listen to what the young boys are saying.”
