Alabama’s offense is sure to look a little different during the 2025 season. Earlier this week, Ryan Grubb was hired as Alabama’s new offensive coordinator. The impact that Grubb will have on Alabama’s offense is sure to show sooner than later. One position group that could reap the benefits of Grubb’s play-calling earlier than other position groups is wide receiver.

In the past, Grubb has proven that he can develop and incorporate wide receivers into his offense. During his time at Washington, Grubb made three wide receivers — Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan, and Ja’Lynn Polk the focal point of the offense. Those three wide receivers were each selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Grubb will have plenty of wide receiver talent at his disposal during the 2025 season. The Crimson Tide return its leading receiver in Ryan Williams and leading pass catcher in Germie Bernard. Both will be counted on more often during the 2025 season. Grubb runs a well-rounded offense that is centered around an explosive passing attack. Given the talent and depth at the receiver position, both Grubb and Alabama’s wide receivers should complement one another nicely.

Williams and Bernard will have a strong supporting cast of wide receivers as well. Several other wide receivers that will be expected to play key roles in the passing game are Rico Scott, Isaiah Horton, Cole Adams, and Jalen Hale.

Grubb does a good job of incorporating an effective rushing attack and explosive passing attack. The two combined allowed him to have a lot of success as a play-caller under DeBoer at Washington. It will be interesting to see if Grubb can continue to sustain success as a play-caller in college football at a blue blood program like Alabama. Needless to say, the wide receivers should be able to.
