Former Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran was recently hired as the head football coach at West Alabama. One of the first hires that Cochran made came on Tuesday as he added former Alabama defensive lineman Damion Square to his coaching staff.

Square was recently hired as the defensive line coach at East Mississippi Community College. However,  he will now serve as the defensive line coach at West Alabama on Cochran’s staff.

Square is not the first former Alabama player to join Cochran’s staff. Last week, former Alabama long snapper Thomas Fletcher was hired as the Tigers new special teams coordinator.

Interestingly enough, Square won three national championships during his time at Alabama. His strength and conditioning coach during that time was Cochran.

The two will be looking to continue to build the foundation in Livingston. This is the biggest coaching gig of Square’s coaching career thus far. It will be interesting to see how he and Cochran fare at the Division 2 level.
