Alabama priority in-state RB target cancels Texas visit

One of Alabama’s top targets cancelled an official visit to Texas on Thursday afternoon. 2025 four-star running back Ezavier “EJ” Crowell confirmed on X that he will no longer visit Texas following the departure of running backs coach Tashard Choice. Choice accepted a position as running backs coach with the Detroit Lions.

Crowell’s decision to cancel the visit will definitely strengthen Alabama’s chances of landing the in-state prospect. Crowell has been a priority target for Alabama since then we coaching staff arrived.

He has taken multiple visits to Alabama and is slated to take an official visit to The Capstone on June 20. With Crowell’s recent decision to reclassify, his timeline moves up more quickly. Alabama’s coaching staff has been in full pursuit of Crowell ever since he made the announcement.

The product of Jackson High School has had a sensational high school career thus far. In the past two seasons, Crowell has rushed for 3,701 yards and 56 touchdowns.

His decision to cancel could pay dividends sooner than later. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Crowell approaches his visits and when he will decide to commit. It is safe to say that Alabama will be in the mix until the very end.
