Despite it being the dead period, recruits are still setting up official visits and dropping top schools lists. 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett narrowed his list of finalists down to 10 on Monday. Alabama made the cut.
Pickett received an offer from Alabama at the end of January. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic stopped by Pickett’s high school for a visit a day later.
Miami is the clear-cut favorite to land Pickett’s commitment at this point in time. His father, Booker Pickett Sr., played for the Hurricanes in the 1990s. His brother, Booker Jr., signed with Miami as a part of the ‘24 recruiting class.
Alabama will need to pick up some ground in Pickett’s recruitment, but they are a finalist nonetheless. In the past, Alabama has had a lot of success recruiting the Sunshine state. Could the Crimson Tide recruit a Miami legacy to Tuscaloosa? There is a lot of time left before early national signing day in December.
