Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer isn’t much concerned about a potential expansion within the college football playoffs in the upcoming 2025 season.
DeBoer made his feelings known while speaking on FOX News’ “The Will Cain Show” on Wednesday evening.
Cain asked the Alabama head coach about the expansion.
“Yeah, I can understand that they’re meeting from my vantage point,” DeBoer said. “I mean there’s not much I’m in control of when it comes to that. I’m just disappointed that we didn’t do what we needed to do to get in this last year, and that’s our focus point. That’s what we’re focused on taking care of in this offseason, to make sure we do what we’re supposed to do to get in no matter how many teams are in it.”
Cain then went on to speak in the hypothetical sense by stating Alabama would’ve been firmly in the college football playoff bracket had there been a 14 to 16 field set in place this past season.
“Yeah, probably more than likely,” DeBoer said. “But again, there are things we can control and what we can’t. That’s what we’re focused on and letting the people that get to decide those things, take care of the things that they’re working on.”
DeBoer and Alabama are now focusing on having a more successful regular season in 2025.
