Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell is a projected first-round pick for the upcoming NFL Draft. The New Jersey native will have pre-draft interviews with quite a few teams. On Wednesday, The Detroit Times reported that Campbell met with the Detroit Lions earlier this week.

The Lions are coming off of one of the best seasons in franchise history in 2024. The Lions finished the regular season with a 15-2 record and were the No. 1 seed in the NFC during the postseason. They lost in the divisional round to the Washington Commanders.

Needless to say, the addition of Campbell would further solidify the Lions odds of making it further in the playoffs in the future. Campbell compared himself to a Swiss army knife during Wednesday’s media session. He is alluding to the fact that he feels confident in the fact that he can impact the game at multiple positions. Whether it be at inside linebacker, outside linebacker, or edge rusher, Campbell finds ways to make plays.

During his junior season at Alabama, Campbell finished the season as the team’s leading tackler with 119 tackles. In addition, he recorded five sacks, two forced fumbles, and two pass deflections.

Campbell will have a very successful NFL career if he continues to take strides in the right direction. He has the makeup of an ‘old school’ NFL linebacker and can impact the game in a multitude of ways. There will be a plethora of teams interested in drafting the Alabama linebacker.
