Sensational is one word that could be used to best describe Ryan Williams’ freshman season at Alabama. The former five-star flashed his potential in Year 1 in Tuscaloosa.

Despite all of the praise and recognition, there are still some areas that Williams needs to show improvement at in order to take the next step in his college career.

The biggest thing with Williams is his level of consistency. Early on in the season, he was making big-time plays and quickly became a reliable target for quarterback Jalen Milroe.

However, that trend changed over the course of the season. Williams struggled at times to find ways to impact the game, and it cost Alabama in the long run. Not to mention, Williams had a lot of drops down the stretch. Some of his drops were very costly for the Crimson Tide.

Williams has the potential to be a very special player at Alabama. He has shown that in a short period of time. In order for Williams to take the next step, he needs to be more consistent and find ways to impact the game without the ball in his hands.

One of the things that separated former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones from the rest of his teammates was the pride and effort he put into blocking. If Williams will take blocking more seriously, he will only enhance his draft stock.

Williams is on the right track to be one of the best wide receivers to ever play at Alabama. It is the little things that he needs to emphasize in order to be in that conversation.
