CJ Dippre was asked about Alabama football’s quarterback completion ahead of spring practice while answering questions at the NFL Combine.
Dippre was a tight end for the Crimson Tide during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The NFL Draft hopeful provided an outlook on the quarterback battle while discussing two of the Tide’s quarterbacks.
“It’s always next man up mentality,” Dippre said. “The quarterback position is such a hard thing. It’s such a hard thing to fill once a guy leaves like Jalen, really like anybody when they leave. But Ty (Simpson) being able to try to take charge. He’s the oldest one in the room. I think he’ll do really good things. Austin (Mack), he was there that one season. I think he’s made tremendous steps to becoming a great player, becoming a great quarterback.”
The Tide begins spring practice this month, and the quarterback competition will be a major focal point. Alabama will wrap up spring practice with A-Day on April 12.
