What type of impact can Isaiah Horton have in Alabama’s offense?

During the offseason, Alabama landed Miami transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton. The Tennessee native is a dynamic pass catcher that has the potential to do some special things for the Crimson Tide in 2025.

Touchdown Alabama breaks down the type of impact that Horton can have on Alabama’s offense during the 2025 season.

The first word that comes to mind when describing Horton is playmaker. At 6-foot-4, Horton possesses a wide catch radius allowing him to create a lot of mismatches in intermediate passing opportunities as well as down the field.

In three seasons at Miami, Horton recorded 70 catches for 790 yards and six touchdowns.

He can be a threat in the red zone and over the top. His explosiveness and speed allow him to get open. Horton possesses multiple traits that translate to success in Alabama’s offense.

Under the direction of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, Horton should see a lot more opportunities in an Alabama uniform than he did during his time at Miami. Grubb prefers to spread the ball out and get his playmakers involved. Horton certainly fits the profile of a playmaker as I alluded to previously.

With Alabama’s leading receivers returning, I would anticipate Horton competing for a starting role at X receiver. He will compete with redshirt sophomore Jalen Hale to be the starter.

Regardless of who wins the position battle, I expect Horton to be a key piece of Alabama’s offense in 2025. He has too much promise and potential not to be.
