Alabama signed two freshmen wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class. Both of which were priority recruits for the Crimson Tide. There could be an opportunity for the two of them to emerge in Year 1 in Tuscaloosa.
Derek Meadows comes to Alabama as a former four-star out of Bishop Gorman High School (NV). Over the course of 4th quarter workouts, I have continued to hear high praise regarding Meadows. The coaching staff is impressed by Meadows’ size and speed at the receiver position.
Meadows is a big-bodied weapon at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds. He will undoubtedly be the tallest wide receiver on Alabama’s roster in 2025. With the continuous praise and Meadows’ skillset, there is legitimate reason to believe he will be a contributor as a true freshman.
Another name to keep an eye on is Lotzeir Brooks. The New Jersey native is a true athlete at 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds. He has great route running and playmaking abilities. Brooks could impact the game in a variety of ways, and it could show sooner than later.
Alabama lost six wide receivers to the transfer portal during the offseason. Meadows and Brooks are two players that will have a prime opportunity to come in and compete for early playing time.
