Trae Taylor left the University of Alabama with an offer from the Crimson Tide after visiting during the Tide’s first day of spring practice.
Taylor attends Carmel Catholic High School in Illinois and is a member of the 2027 recruiting class. He holds previous offers from Michigan, Illinois, Nebraska, LSU, Texas A&M and others.
The sophomore feels an offer from the Tide is something one has to be excited about.
“It’s Bama,” Taylor said. “It means a ton. Anytime you have a school like Bama interested, you have to be excited and do your homework before making any decisions.”
The Illinois product had an opportunity to see the Tide kick off spring practice Monday and left impressed with the structure of the program.
“The program is very well organized and great,” said Taylor. “There was a ton of positive energy, and everyone is locked in.”
Taylor has a commitment date set for June 6. However, he is considering possibly pushing his commitment date back to give himself more time to develop relationships with coaches.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder finished the 2024 season with 25 total touchdowns, 3,061 passing yards and 437 rushing yards. He showed he could deliver a variety of throws by hitting the out route, getting the ball to his receivers in stride on slant routes, getting the ball over his wideouts’ shoulders on corner routes and showing great ball placement when pushing the ball down the field. He also flashed great change of direction ability when running with the football.
“The strongest part of my game is how I process it,” said Taylor.
