One of the most highly-touted wide receivers in the transfer portal this offseason was Isaiah Horton. The former Miami Hurricane was a hot commodity for a number of programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ultimately, the Tennessee native chose the Crimson Tide.
When speaking with the media during Monday’s press conference, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer provided some initial comments regarding Horton.
“He’s been out there. The lights aren’t going to be too bright for him. You can see just his focus in the phase of workouts that we had. It’s important to him,” DeBoer said, “He came here for a reason because he wanted to be pushed. He wanted to be challenged. He wanted to come around here.”
DeBoer also alluded to the fact that Horton was not intimidated by competition. He actually welcomes it instead.
“He wasn’t scared of competition— some guys that are in the program like Germ and Ryan that had a lot of production themselves. He added to the room, and we’re excited about his personality, his attitude he brings. It’s been nothing but positive.”
Horton is expected to be a key weapon in Alabama’s offense in 2025. He has accumulated a lot of success over the course of his college career thus far.
In three seasons with the Hurricanes, Horton reeled in 70 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns.
He has the potential to do big things in Alabama’s offense. If history repeats itself, Horton will be yet another transfer wide receiver that has a lot of success in an Alabama uniform. That is the early hope and expectation from the people inside the locker room and facility.
