Alabama football’s wide receiver, Germie Bernard has seen a change in Ty Simpson during the offseason.

Simpson is involved in a three-way quarterback battle to determine who will be the next starting quarterback at the University of Alabama.

The former five-star spent the last two football seasons backing up Jalen Milroe. He did not get an opportunity to play many meaningful snaps during the 2024 season, seeing action in six games and completing 14 passes for 167 yards.

Bernard feels Simpson is showing a lot of growth and ‘stepping up’ as the Tennessee product looks to attained the role he has waited and prepared for.

“I think Ty’s mindset has changed a lot,” Bernard said. “I wouldn’t say a lot because Ty he’s been had a great mindset, and I think that he’s just really growing. He’s growing into more of a leader. He’s stepping up, and he knows what it takes. He played behind a pretty good QB. I think that he has what it takes to get the job done.”

The Crimson Tide are set to continue spring practice through March, and Simpson will have an opportunity to get closer to possibly being recognized as the Tide’s QB1.
