Alabama football’s best recruiting job was done in its on locker room, per the Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.
Multiple Alabama defensive players decided to stay in Tuscaloosa for another year and not move on to the NFL after the 2024 season. Domani Jackson, Tim Keenan, Deontae Lawson, Justin Jefferson, Keon Sabb and Jah-Marien Latham all made the choice to return to the Tide to play under Kalen DeBoer and Wommack.
Retaining this group of defensive players is something Wommack feels was a successful recruiting job.
“I think that’s the best recruiting job of all,” Wommack said. “I think it also speaks to players believing in a culture, believing in what we’re doing moving forward and what we’re able to accomplish. Even when things didn’t go as well at times last season, and certainly there was more for us to be able to give, I think the players see the vision. The older guys in particular see the vision of where we’re headed, kind of a stamp of approval on those guys. And then it just sets the tone for all these younger players.”
Alabama’s defense is expected to be a strength in 2025.
