Alabama kicker showing promise this spring: ‘Haven’t seen him have…a bad kick’

Alabama football kicker, Conor Talty is the favorite to take over kicking duties for the Crimson Tide in 2025 after the departure of Graham Nicholson.

Talty is a product of St. Rita High School in Chicago, Illinois. He handled the Tide’s kickoff duties in 2025 and accounted for 41 touchbacks on 76 kickoffs.

The Illinois product looks to be poised to take another step forward in an expanded role in the future. Kalen DeBoer is liking what he is seeing from Talty from a growth standpoint this spring.

“Been pleased so far,” DeBoer said when asked about the Tide’s specialist as a whole. “I think last fall, you can kind of see him (Talty) continue to gain confidence. I think it was great that he got out there, whether it was just to kick off, that was an important role, and he did a really good job. I thought most of the time got better as the season went along, and I think that’s just carried over into being consistent, more consistent than what I remember seeing for sure last spring, but also more consistent from last fall. So, he’s doing a good job of getting the ball up quick on the field goals, and I think just really in control, really haven’t seen him have like a bad kick.”

The Tide did not call upon Nicholson a lot during the 2024 season, but he was perfect on extra-point attempts. A similar level of consistency from Talty in 2025 could benefit the Tide in a major way.
