Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell did not participate in Alabama’s Pro Day on Wednesday. Campbell underwent surgery for a torn labrum following the NFL Scouting Combine. He confirmed the news with SEC Network.
Campbell is projected by a number of draft experts to be a first-round pick. In fact, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah had Campbell being drafted No. 9 in his latest mock draft to the New Orleans Saints.
The New Jersey native had a stellar junior season with the Crimson Tide. He finished the season with a team-high 119 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Campbell has the potential to be an off-ball linebacker or in-line pass rusher at the next level. He has the tools to play both inside and outside linebacker which creates more value for him.
Campbell has a lot of upside, and scouts will keep that in mind when determining whether they want to draft Campbell or someone else. Despite the injury, Campbell should be a Day 1 or Day 2 pick at worst.
