One Alabama player that is being thrust into the spotlight this off-season is quarterback Austin Mack. Mack’s teammate, Alabama center Parker Brailsford spoke on Thursday about Mack’s growth and maturity since he arrived in Tuscaloosa.
“I’ve seen Austin kinda grow since he’s been here,” Brailsford said, “I’ve seen him get a lot more confident. He’s a lot more decisive with some of his reads and things like that. I’m excited for him.”
Mack is in the thick of one of the most anticipated quarterback battles in program history. The 6-foot-5, signal-caller was reported to have had a strong performance during a practice earlier in the week. Brailsford’s comments coincide with what has been said about Mack.
Prior to arriving at Alabama, Mack spent one season at Washington. He was a teammate of Brailsford and played for Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb with the Huskies.
That relationship could definitely bolster Mack’s chances of competing for the starting spot. Nevertheless, Mack has the talent to make a name for himself throughout the spring and leading up to the 2025 season.
The California native is a prolific passer and makes sound decisions with his hands on the ball. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Mack fares in the spotlight and whether or not he can take advantage of the opportunity at hand.
