Jorden Edmonds is considered to be one of the top defensive backs in the country with programs like Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State, Tennessee and a long list of others after him.
The Crimson Tide have picked up substantial momentum with the five-star defensive back in recent months by staying in contact with him and getting him back on campus this spring.
Alabama football is a program Edmonds has had his eyes on for a long time, per his father Chris Edmonds. The Tide staff’s willingness to put an emphasis on development stands out to both Jorden and the rest of his family.
“It has been a school he has always kept an eye on even when he was younger when he was leaning more towards basketball,” Chris Edmonds said. “I think with his mindset and with the coaching staff, I think they’re more willing to help develop players. I think that’s the old-school mentality, and Jorden coming in as a freshman, I think they’ll be willing to develop more than just throw products out there based on stars and develop players to be elite college players or to go to the NFL. I think they have always have had that.”
The Alabama football program has been built on the pillars of iron sharpens iron with some of the best college football players competing at practice day in and day out. This is a culture Jorden should have no problem fitting into.
“Jorden is a player all the time,” Chris Edmonds told Touchdown Alabama. “He wants to train hard. He wants to get better. He doesn’t settle for just the fact of well ‘I got this star. I got this offer.’ He is willing to work…He is very coachable. He doesn’t say a lot. He is going to do whatever you tell him. You are going to get a true professional and a young man.”
When he is away from the game, Jorden takes pride in his grades and putting in the work when no one is watching. Chris is confident his son will take those traits with him to whichever school he chooses.
“From a parent perspective, I want him to go there to have fun,” Edmonds said. “I know this is going to be a lot work as he gets older, but I want him to enjoy that experience, hopefully stick with the school. If he could find a home there (Alabama) or wherever you choose to go. I know its one on his top list. I’m happy for him and to see him go through this process.”
