The dynamics of the Alabama football program might be a little bit different from a season ago. At least that is what one Alabama player believes.

On Tuesday, defensive back Zabien Brown spoke with the media and provided an intriguing answer when asked about how this year’s team compares to last year’s team.

“It’s a new team completely. Everybody moving around different, talking different, and we got a lot ahead of us,” Brown said, “Everybody just meshing together. Everybody just building, connecting on a deeper level. I think that makes us play harder for each other.”

Alabama will have a lot of new faces taking the field in Tuscaloosa in 2025. However, there are a lot of returning players as well. As Brown alluded to, the team’s ability to mesh together is crucial for the future of the program. In 2024, there seemed to be a lot of leaders and te4am camaraderie, but the team buy-in was missing. In order for Alabama to be more successful in 2025, the team will need to connect on a deeper level as Brown mentioned. The players will need to play harder for each other as Brown pointed out.

There are a lot of areas for improvement for the Crimson Tide. The defense showed continuous improvement over the course of the 2024 season. It seemed like the entire defense banded together for one common goal — to get better as a unit and give the team the best chance to win football games. That is exactly what Brown and his teammates were able to do.

With a plethora of players transferring and several assistant coaches leaving the program, this is a new team. A new year. A new opportunity for Alabama to continue to build something special under the direction of second-year head coach Kalen DeBoer. Brown and the rest of his teammates will be vital pieces in helping the program achieve its goals for the 2025 season.
