The Alabama tight end with great opportunity to take step forward this spring

Jay Lindsey

Alabama football’s tight end, Jay Lindsey has an opportunity to put himself in a position to crack the Tide’s tight end rotation this spring.

The Crimson Tide had a trio of tight ends, who contributed during the 2024 season. CJ Dippre, Robbie Ouzts and Josh Cuevas rotated at the position throughout Kalen DeBoer’s first year in Tuscaloosa.

Dippre and Ouzts have departed from the program in hopes of carving out successful careers in the NFL.

Cuevas returns as the Tide’s most experienced tight end. Danny Lewi Jr. also returns, but he is not participating in spring football due to an injury. These circumstances open the door for second-year tight end, Jay Lindsey.

Lindsey is a product of Patrician Academy in Butler, Alabama.

The Alabama native was considered a three-star recruit as a member of the 2024 recruiting class but still was regarded as one of the most physically dominant tight end prospects in the 2024 class with his ability and willingness to block as a tight end.

Alabama’s tight end, Josh Cuevas provided some insight into Lindsey’s development during his most recent media availability.

“Jay’s my brother,” Cuevas said. “I love Jay. We’re kind of sticking together on this one, just kind of developing each other. He’s coming off. I’m coming off the field, and we’re kind of asking each other, ‘hey, did you see my last rep?’ Just kind of building off of one another and just kind of working to get ourselves better with the offense. He’s developing great.”

Lindsey is a sleeper to know for Alabama in 2025.
