Multiple second-year Alabama football players look to be on pace to have bigger impacts in year two in Tuscaloosa.

Here is a look at the second-year Alabama players pushing the most conversations to step up:

Jeremiah Beaman

The Beaman praise this spring has been loud and clear from multiple people. Tim Keenan, Kane Wommack and Geno VanDeMark have all praised Beaman’s growth this spring. VanDeMark, who is competing to be the Tide’s left guard this spring describes Beaman and Hill as looking totally different.

“Beaman and Edric, they look a lot different,” VanDeMark said. “They’re playing a lot different, faster, more physical, just better defensive lineman than they were previously, and they’re giving us some trouble. They’re good players.”

The Parker High School product is currently a solid 312 pounds.

Zavier Mincey

Mincey moved from cornerback to safety as a true freshman for the Crimson Tide during the 2024 season. He looks to have settled into lining up at safety for the Tide after earning a starting role against Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

“That’s a tough transition to go from corner to safety midseason,” Alabama safety, Bray Hubbard said when asked about Mincy. “But he’s going right along, and he’s learned everything and we’re getting the room right.”

Rico Scott

Scott flashed potential at the end of the 2024 season after not playing much earlier in the season. He earned a substantial amount of playing time against Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Alabama fans were able to get a flash of Scott at Jalen Milroe’s Pro Day. Alabama NFL Draft hopeful, Malachi Moore highlighted Scott later in the Pro Day.

“The biggest one would probably be Rico Scott,” Moore said while talking at Alabama’s Pro Day. “I just seen him really take his game to another level. He’s always been a hard worker, though. He’s never really complaining about playing time or anything like that. He’s always kept his head down and do what the coaches ask him to do and come out and put the extra work in. He’s looking good.”

Dre Kirkpatrick

Kirkpatrick was mentioned early in spring practice as someone, who was competing at the HUSKY position within the Tide’s secondary. DeVonta Smith started at the position in 2024 before transferring to Notre Dame.

DaShawn Jones is the projected starter at the position, but the Tide wants to establish more depth at the position after injuries hit Alabama’s secondary in 2024.

“Been really impressed with Dre Kirkpatrick,” Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said. “He’s doing some really good things.”

Second-year Alabama players, who played a good amount of snaps throughout the 2024 season were not considered for the piece. Those players include Ryan Williams, Zabien Brown, Jaylen Mbakwe and Red Morgan.
