Alabama football’s outside linebacker, Qua Russaw wants to capitalize on the experience he received last season with the Crimson Tide.

Russaw started in six games for Alabama in 2024, but he saw action in every game. The Carver High School product wrapped up his redshirt freshman season with 36 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and a forced fumble. He also added a pair of quarterback hurries.

The now redshirt sophomore is looking to spend more time in the opponent’s backfield in 2025.

“I’ll say about a six or a seven,” Russaw told reporters when asked to rate his play in 2024. “I don’t think my pass rush were there. This offseason, I’ve been working on my pass rush, just being explosive because I know I can do it. I’m fast. I’m explosive…Just being comfortable, just going, just not thinking too much, which I’ve been working on that a lot this spring.”

Russaw’s teammates look to have a lot of trust in what Russaw brings to the table. He is one of the newest members of the Tide’s leadership team along with Ty Simpson, LT Overton and Kadyn Proctor. Along with getting after the passer, he putting an emphasis on being more of a vocal leader.

“I been working on my talking skills, talking to some of the younger guys and trying to get them going,” Russaw said.

The Montgomery, Alabama product is taking tips from Que Robinson and Deontae Lawson as he steps more into his new leadership role.
