There is no shortage of talent in Alabama’s running back room. There are five running backs currently on scholarship, and head coach Kalen DeBoer spoke on what he has seen from the group so far this spring.
“I think all of the running backs in general are breaking some tackles, making more explosive plays,” DeBoer said, “Want to see the whole group continue to improve.”
The running back room features a blend of speed, power, and athleticism.
Two weeks ago, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was quoted saying “Kevin Riley is our shiftiest” running back.
Redshirt senior Dre Washington and sophomore Daniel Hill are more powerful runners that will be used primarily in short yardage situations.
Senior Jam Miller is a balanced runner that runs with speed and power. He will likely serve as the team’s starting running back during the 2025 season.
Altogether, the running back is well-positioned to have a strong year. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will look to use each of their skillsets and playmaking ability to take Alabama’s offense to a higher level. It will be interesting to see how the running backs perform in 2025 in Tuscaloosa.
