Grant Haviland made his way to Tuscaloosa Friday for the first time since earning an offer from the Alabama Crimson Tide in February.
Haviland attends Milton High School in Georgia, and he is a 2027 tight-end prospect. He holds college football offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Texas and others.
Haviland’s latest visit to Alabama included conversations with Kalen DeBoer and the Tide’s tight end coach Bryan Ellis. They ensured the sophomore their plan is to continue to use the tight end position a lot.
“It was great to hear about how they want to make tight ends a big part of their offense and to hear what makes Alabama different from the rest,” Haviland told Touchdown Alabama.
Alabama was able to give Haviland a first-hand look at the way they plan to use the tight end position during his visit when he watched the Tide scrimmage.
“The scrimmage was awesome,” Haviland said. “It was very competitive, high energy and the tight ends got a lot of love.”
At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, the 2027 prospect is a willing blocker as an in-line tight end and when lined up at wide receiver with his ability to effectively stalk block. He also flashes the potential to be an effective route runner with solid hands.
