During the offseason, Alabama’s coaching staff made the decision to bring in two transfer offensive linemen — tackle Arkel Anugwom and guard Kam Dewberry. Alabama center Parker Brailsford spoke about Dewberry in particular on Thursday and what has stood out about him over the course of the spring.
“He’s really smart. He’s a good player. He’s very talented,” Brailsford said, “I would say those are the three things that stand out to me.”
Last season, Brailsford had team captain and projected first-round pick Tyler Booker alongside him at left guard. This season will be a little different with Booker heading to the NFL.
The left guard competition is in full swing and Dewberry is in the thick of the competition. The Texas A&M transfer brings valuable experience as an SEC starter to the Crimson Tide. In three seasons with the Aggies, Dewberry played in 32 games with seven starts.
Dewberry is listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds. The Texas native will literally be a huge presence along Alabama’s offensive line in 2025. He is expected to be a key player up front for the Crimson Tide regardless of what role he carves out for himself. Alabama coaches and players have both spoken highly of Dewberry this spring, so it will be interesting to see how things pan out for the former four-star prospect.
