Alabama football will have some new offensive weapons to watch during its A-Day practice.
The hour-and-a-half practice is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. CT in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Admission is free.
Here are some new offensive weapons to put your eyes on:
Keelon Russell – No. 12
The Alabama quarterback battle has been the most talked about topic for the Crimson Tide this spring and deservedly so. The winner of the competition will obviously play a significant role in the Tide’s offense. Keelon Russell has lived up to the hype and flashed he is a special talent this spring by all accounts. His effortless release and the spin he puts on the football will be exciting to watch.
Isaiah Horton – No. 1
Horton is expected to make an immediate impact after transferring from Miami to Alabama. He has reportedly made plays throughout the spring with his ability to stretch the field and make contested catches. He, Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams are expected to lead the Tide’s wide receiver room.
Lotzeir Brooks – No. 17
It may be hard to keep Brooks off the field as a freshman. The New Jersey product is explosive in more ways than one. He can create separation with his explosive burst and climb the ladder to pull in acrobatic catches. His emergence this spring will make snap distribution for Alabama wide receivers very interesting.
Dre Washington No. 20
Washington is a senior transfer running back, who is expected to serve as a nice change of pace back for the Tide. Kalen DeBoer described him as a combination of the different backs in their room. He has a solid frame at 5-foot-9 and 218 pounds, and he is shifty, per DeBoer.
Derek Meadows – No. 30
Meadows is going to stand out among Alabama wide receivers with his frame at 6-foot-5 and 208 pounds. His size makes him a mismatch as his ability to make plays down the field was one of his biggest strengths as a prospect.
AK Dear – No. 0
Dear was evaluated as a tenacious running back with an explosive burst. He is considered to be the future of Alabama’s running back room.
