Malik Howard made a visit to the University of Alabama Saturday to check out the Crimson Tide’s A-Day event.
Howard is a 2027 four-star tight end out of Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee. He holds offers from Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Florida State and others.
The Crimson Tide offered the sophomore in February and were able to get him on campus on last weekend.
“It went great for me and my family,” Howard told Touchdown Alabama. “They showed us a lot of love. I really like how they operate. Everything there is really professional, and they treat the players like pros.”
Alabama football’s tight end position looks to be trending in a direction a lot of recruits are liking. The Tide is in the mix for several of the top tight-end prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
Howard has taken notice of this trend.
“They’re really starting to use their tight ends in different ways and look to keep multiple on the field, so it’s looking like they could have great production from the position with the right guys,” said Howard.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Howard is a physical tight end, who looks comfortable making contested catches in traffic. He also has experience lining up out wide and attached to the line of scrimmage. He is an effective blocker and is impressive at releasing from blocking and becoming a target for his quarterback.
“I feel that I can be a guy that does it all as a blocker and as a receiver,” Howard said. “I think I have the ability to beat linebackers, safeties and corners in the pass game while also banging with the big guys in the trenches and not having to be a specialty tight end that has to come out on certain plays because he can only do one or the other.”
