Kalen DeBoer was asked about the potential of Alabama football playing with two quarterbacks in 2025 while speaking to media members at a Team Focus charity event.
Alabama’s starting quarterback position remains vacant ahead of the 2025 season. Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell are set to compete to take steps forward in the battle over the summer and into the fall.
DeBoer shared that a two-quarterback system is not something Alabama is aiming to create.
“I think it’s a lot easier to just have one out there, be in a rhythm,” DeBoer said. “There has been times where I have started seasons doing that, and we have gotten through it. I can think two or three in particular. But that is not really our mindset right now. We get to the fall we want to be settled in, and I think that just helps all around with leadership. But you got to do what you got to do. I think all three quarterbacks we have are all very similar. Maybe if you had one or so that was different than the others, you would have packages. I don’t think that is the case for us.”
Alabama football’s quarterback competition will remain a major topic throughout the offseason.
