The other offensive position Alabama could add ‘trusted’ depth to via transfer portal

Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer said he felt Alabama was not where they needed to be from a numbers standpoint on the offensive line in 2024.

The Crimson Tide look to have a solid number heading into the 2025 season but building ‘trusted’ depth is something Alabama coaches highlighted in the spring. The offensive tackle position is a spot Alabama looked to have tried to build depth at during its spring practice sessions.

Kadyn Proctor and Wilkin Formby are expected to be the Tide’s two starting tackles with Proctor on the left and Formby on the right.

Proctor missed the entire spring while recovering from a shoulder injury. This thrusted Olaus Alinen into action at left tackle this spring and allowed Alinen to show Alabama coaches he is a versatile offensive lineman as he also competed at left guard.

Outside of Alinen, who has not earn many meaningful snaps himself, the Crimson Tide has a young group of inexperienced players to choose from to add depth at the tackle position. This group will continue to get better and still have opportunities to be great offensive linemen for Alabama in the future, but can Alabama depend on them to be valuable depth pieces in the fall?

It should not come as a surprise to anyone of Alabama is targeting a tackle in the transfer portal very soon.
