ESPN college football analyst, Tom Luginbill is pulling for Ty Simpson in the Alabama football quarterback battle.

Simpson is one of three quarterbacks involved in the Crimson Tide’s quarterback battle. He is the oldest signal caller in the competition and has more experience as a college football player than Austin Mack and Keelon Russell.

The former five-star has become a unicorn in today’s era of college football, choosing to stick around and not transfer. Luginbill shared that this is why he is pulling for Simpson in that battle.

“I think the thing about Ty Simpson that intrigues me is in this day and age, he didn’t leave, and he could have left multiple times,” Luginbill said as a guest on “Next Round Live.” “He’s hung around, and he stuck it out. He’s fighting, and he’s battling to earn it. It’s not very reminiscent of Carson back when he decided to stick around Georgia and not leave. Then he earned it and had a really successful two years there. So, I’m pulling for Ty Simpson because I think he’s done things the right way. He’s probably ahead of the curve over everybody else just because he’s been around. He’s seen so much and that gives him the nod.”

Alabama football’s quarterback competition is still ongoing.
