Alabama football’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack believes Jalen Milroe can find success in the NFL.
Wommack’s belief comes from a year of being tasked with having to compete against the quarterback in practice.
Milroe left a lasting impression on Wommack with his play on the field and his preparation off of it. Wommack highlighted this on WNSP 105.5 FM in Mobile Tuesday when asked what a potential team will get from the Alabama quarterback once he enters the NFL.
“Well, I don’t know what is all known or not known about Jalen (Milroe) but I’ll tell you this, the guy comes in the building everyday with a great attitude, a great mindset,” Wommack said. “He’s the first one in the building, you can’t beat the guy in. Here’s a college young man that’s in this building at 4 a.m., 3:30, watching film, getting his body ready for practice. And so, certainly in that regard. he operates as a professional.”
Wommack also praised Milroe’s dynamic abilities as a runner and a passer from the quarterback position, calling him a ‘special talent,’ who will excel in the NFL given the right predicament.
“He’s a special talent, from his ability to throw the ball to run the ball, he’s a very gifted athlete,” Wommack said. “And I think that as he continues to develop his game, he does have a special opportunity. And I think as he figures those things out under the right organization and the right fit, Jalen Milroe can be a very special player and I’m excited for his future.”
In two seasons as Alabama’s starting quarterback, Milroe accumulated 5,678 passing yards, 1,257 rushing yards and 71 total touchdowns.
