Nick Saban was not happy with where NFL Draft analyst, Todd McShay had Alabama players going in his mock draft at times.
McShay recently joined Mark Ingram and Rob Stone on the “Triple Option” podcast ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. The trio reflected back on Mark Ingram’s draft process, which reminded McShay of the phone calls he would get from Saban after the analyst released a mock draft the former Alabama coach did not agree with.
“Every once in a while, there were five or six times in decade that he was there,” McShay said. “I’d get that call from Miss Linda’s (Saban’s assistant) phone, and I’d be like oh boy setting up a call for Nick to call and get after me. ‘You’re (McShay) too high on this guy.’ He was right once or twice. I was right once or twice. They saw a mock draft with my name on top of it, and he was pissed off, and he’s not the only coach.”
McShay looks to be happy to have Saban off his back these days.
