One of the most well-renowned sports personalities provided his initial take on the Philadelphia Eagles selecting Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Bayless tweeted out late Thursday night following the Eagles selection.
”I have no doubt Howie Roseman, the best GM in sports, just took a future Pro Bowler in Jihaad Campbell … at 31.”
Campbell was projected by many draft experts to be selected in the first round. NBC Sports’ Chris Simms mocked Campbell to the New Orleans Saints who held the No. 9 pick in the draft.
In the past, the Eagles front office has made some interesting picks that played out in their favor. Bayless is one person that believes Campbell will pan out for the Eagles organization.
The New Jersey native had an illustrious career with the Crimson Tide. He recorded 186 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles during his time in Tuscaloosa. As a junior, he was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award and Bednarik Award.
Campbell will join forces with seven former Alabama players in Philadelphia. He will join Jalen Hurts, Devonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Tyler Steen, Cameron Latu, Eli Ricks, and Byron Young.
Campbell is coming off of a shoulder injury that he suffered at the end of his junior season. He could be sidelined for some time but should be able to return by the start of the 2025-2026 season.
