There have been a lot of great moments in the history of Alabama football. Recently, former Alabama tailback Josh Jacobs relived his favorite moment from his time in Tuscaloosa on an episode of “The Pivot Podcast”.

“Definitely Oklahoma for sure,” Jacobs said, “Like the Oklahoma game, playing the town — everybody from where I’m from was making bets against me. Everybody was like “You not gone win.””

Coming out of high school, Jacobs chose Alabama over Oklahoma. He spurned the in-state Sooners for the Crimson Tide. That could be one of the key reasons for why a lot of his friends were willing to bet against him during the 2018 Orange Bowl. Nevertheless, Jacobs took it as an opportunity to have arguably the best game of his college career.

“It was one of them games where it was so fun just to play. I think I was laughing the whole game. It was one of them games where I felt like I could do no wrong. I felt like every time I touched the ball, even if I got tackled, I was close to like scoring. It was just one of them games.”

Jacobs helped Alabama come away with a 45-34 win atop the Sooners and reach the 2019 CFP National Championship against Ohio State. The Oklahoma native finished the game with 15 carries for 98 yards. It was the most yards that Jacobs recorded in a single game during his college career. Not to mention, he also recorded a career-high 60 receiving yards.

Needless to say, Jacobs took the game against his home team personally. It was more than just the average game for Jacobs. Some things just mean more, and it certainly did on that night in 2018.
