Former Alabama DL signs with UFL team

Detroit Lions defensive end Isaiah Buggs (96) walks off the field after recovering the fumble from Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (3) during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023.

Former Alabama defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs has signed a deal with the San Antonio Brahmas. Buggs has not played professional football since the end of the 2023-2024 season when he was a part of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

During the offseason, Buggs was sentenced to 60 days in prison and two years of probation due to being charged with cruelty to animals.

Since joining the league in 2019, Buggs has played for four different teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Chiefs.

The Louisiana native has recorded 89 tackles in his five-year career in the NFL.

It will be interesting to see how he fares with the Brahmas. The team is off to a 1-4 start to the season and could certainly use a player of Buggs’ caliber to bolster their defensive front.
