Former Alabama running back, Mark Ingram Jr. was inducted to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night in Birmingham.

Ingram had a great college football career at Alabama from 2008 to 2010, becoming one of the most celebrated players in Crimson Tide history. The Hackensack, New Jersey native made an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa as a freshman, rushing for 728 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Ingram doubled his production as a sophomore by rushing for 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns. This historic performance earned Ingram the Heisman Trophy, making him the first player in program history to receive the award. Ingram’s efforts also help led Alabama to a perfect 14-0 record and a BCS National Championship.

Ingram’s junior campaign was hampered by a knee injury but he still managed to rush for 875 yards and 13 touchdowns. He later declared for the 2011 NFL Draft and was selected in the first round with the 28th overall pick by the New Orleans Saints. Ingram went on to have a productive 11-year career in the NFL, earning three Pro Bowl selections before retiring in 2022 after stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

Ingram is now the first player to be coached by Nick Saban to be inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
