New York Jets’ defensive back, Malachi Moore is familiar with the skillset his new NFL head coach Aaron Glenn possessed back in his playing days when he used to roam the Jets secondary, thanks to his former teammates at Alabama.
Glenn was a premier cornerback for the Jets from 1994 to 2001. He amassed over 24 interceptions and earned two Pro Bowl selections with New York. After retiring from the NFL and transitioning into coaching in 2014, Glenn served stints with the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns as an assistant defensive backs coach before becoming the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024.
Glenn coached Arnold during his rookie season in the NFL. Arnold started 15 games under Glenn in the Lion’s secondary and had the luxury of learning about the former cornerback’s pro career. Arnold shared Glenn’s game with Moore before the former Alabama safety was drafted by the Jets in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Yes, I knew that, Terrion (Arnold), he told me that he played for the Jets, because we would talk about coach Glenn last year when I would call B.B (Brian Branch) or Terrion we would just talk about coach Glenn and what they run and anything like that” Moore said while meeting with New York reporters after practice on Saturday. “But Terrion actually gave me some insight on who coach Glenn actually was because before Terrion told me, I really didn’t know that he was that fire back in his day but now I know… He told me this last season, like it was just a casual conversation, so when he was still with the Lions that’s when Terrion told me.”
Moore now looks to replicate and generate his own success at the defensive back position as he plays under Glenn in the New York secondary in the NFL.
