Former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs detailed an experience on Bussin With The Boys in which he questioned whether or not he was cut out to play for Alabama.

“The only time that I was like maybe this is not for me is when we was working out,” Jacobs said. “I’m like “Did I come to run track?””

Jacobs elaborated on what he meant by questioning Alabama’s workout program during his college career.

“We had a minimum of 17 110’s every time we ran them. We ran them once every week. Minimum. That’s if everybody make they time.”

In the past, Alabama had a rigorous 4th quarter program led by former strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran. Jacobs noted how some of the workout programs affected members of the football team.

“You got to run you have to run 80% your speed to make it on time. We had people passing out, everything, throwing up.”

While the workouts may have seemed difficult in the moment, it clearly paid off in the long run for Jacobs. The Oklahoma native got better in each season that he was in Tuscaloosa and posted a career-high 640 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns during his junior season.

As a result, Jacobs was selected in the first-round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders. Since then, Jacobs has gone on to become a three-time Pro Bowler. He is sixth among all NFL running backs in total rushing yards (6,874) and fourth among current NFL players in rushing touchdowns (61).
