Former Alabama quarterback. AJ McCarron reflected back on having Kevin Norwood as one of his favorite targets on a recent episode of the “Bama Standard.”
Norwood and McCarron were members of Alabama football’s 2009 recruiting class. The class featured some of the most impactful players of the Nick Saban era including Trent Richardson, who made an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa.
McCarron feels not having a chance to play early put a chip on the shoulders of him, Norwood and Kenny Bell.
“I think it was us having a chip on our shoulder,” McCarron said. “We came in, you had multiple guys that came in our year that played. Trent (Richardson) played right off the bat. You had some defensive guys play right off the bat. And here me, Kev and Kenny (Bell) were on the scout team killing. They absolutely hated us. Saban would be pissed off all the time, but the amount of work that Kevin put in, it’s very rare. You don’t see it a lot. He was such a special player. It was awesome to be a part of.”
