DeBoer identifies critical trait every Alabama quarterback possesses

Kalen DeBoer feels all three Alabama quarterbacks competing for the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback job can make plays with their feet.

Keelon Russell, Ty Simpson and Austin Mack have done enough to keep the Tide’s quarterback competition ongoing ahead of summer workouts. While each quarterback does not have the explosiveness Jalen Milroe possesses, they are mobile and can make plays with their legs, according to DeBoer.

“All three quarterbacks we have do have the ability to extend plays.” DeBoer told Greg McElroy on ESPN’s “Always College Football.” “You know that. I’m speaking your language, quarterback. You know what they’re doing as far as moving the chains, using their legs to keep plays alive. And Austin Mack, even as big as he is, once he gets moving, he covers a lot of ground. And Ty was a great dual-threat. Keelon has the same abilities to make people miss and probably faster than most people think. I think we are more similar as a group, as you mentioned, I think, in your own words, than maybe the diversity of who we had as far as skill sets and how different they were and how you wanted to use it use it. Jalen, as far as explosiveness, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like it with a quarterback.”

The Crimson Tide’s quarterback competition is expected to go on throughout the fall camp.
