Why Ryan Williams feels some Alabama players were not bought into Kalen DeBoer in 2024

Alabama wide receiver, Ryan Williams made an interesting statement on the premiere of “All In” which features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from Alabama players and coaches this past spring.

“Definitely been uphill for the culture,” Williams said. “When Coach DeBoer first got here, it was kind of like a culture shock, listening to the other guys. Some people weren’t bought into Coach DeBoer yet.”

Something was lacking last season in order for the Crimson Tide to have its first four-loss season since 2007 in Nick Saban’s first year at Alabama. Nothing came easy for the Crimson Tide in 2024. The same will likely be the case in 2025 as Alabama looks to navigate another difficult schedule.

In a recent interview with Overtime, Williams was asked about how many yards and touchdowns he would finish with as a sophomore.

“As many as we need,” Williams said. “If that means I gotta score 40 touchdowns, I’m gonna score 40. However many the team needs.”

It will take that kind of mindset in order for Alabama to achieve a high level of success during the 2025 season.
