Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer is hopeful Alabama can find themselves in the College Football Playoff in 2025 after missing the inaugural 12-team playoff last season.
DeBoer was asked about the possibility of the playoff having a play-in game Tuesday at the SEC Spring Meetings in Florida, and he shared he felt it could create excitement and attract more interest from college football fans.
“I think any time you have a chance to be in that can be a play-in game and it is kind of still part of the playoffs, and I’m thinking just generally speaking and not specifically about Alabama, I think that adds to the excitement,” DeBoer said. “It keeps more people interested in where their team sits, but I don’t know enough about how that would look and how that would relate to a conference championship or anything like that, how it would all add up to what we have already to find a National Champion. I think there will be a lot in the next couple days that I’ll probably learn, just like all of us and hopefully keep the ball moving to where we can figure out and what’s best. I don’t know if there is a perfect solution. You just have to figure out what’s best for everyone involved.”
DeBoer and the Tide are looking to have a strong summer before kicking off the 2025 football season against Florida State on the road.
