Ty Simpson put together an almost flawless performance in the Crimson Tide’s 73-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe.
Simpson finished the game 17-of-17 for 226 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also added a rushing touchdown during this impressive performance, which came to an end early.
DeBoer felt the game slowed down for Simpson against the Warhawks.
“I just thought that the game was slower for him,” DeBoer said. “He was just able to go through progressions. That first week to second week, that’s what you needed to see. That’s what you really needed to see out of Ty, and I’m proud of how he went to work. There’s some times when he scrambled this week where it just felt like he had it under control. He just saw the field, knew where guys were at, understood the situation, and then made the throw. To get completions like that, 17 of 17. The guys got to make the catch, too. They got to make those plays, just focused on making the fundamental plays.”
The Alabama starting quarterback felt he helped lead the Tide back to playing up to the standard they are expected to play every Saturday.
“It was a great bounce back after last week,” Simpson told reporters after the game. “Disappointed after last week. So, we practiced pissed off, came out with the right mentality, and we just played Alabama football.”
Alabama football improved to 1-1 with the win.
The Tide will welcome Wisconsin to campus next week for a home game. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CST.
