Why Ryan Williams was not a huge part of Alabama football’s game plan vs. Missouri

Ryan Williams was not his productive self in Alabama football’s win against the Missouri Tigers.

Williams did not record a catch in the game, despite playing several snaps. He was listed as probable throughout the week before the game in the Crimson Tide’s availability report. Kalen DeBoer was asked why Williams was not featured as much as he usually is during his post-game press conference.

“Just something carried over from last week’s game,” DeBoer said. “It would have been earlier in the game last week, just took a hit, so just hobbled, and he didn’t get to practice as much this week and that’s why he was on the report, which makes it a little harder to get him out there, especially when you have the confidence in other guys to go make plays. I haven’t got the report exactly how he got through. I know he was out there and did help us. I would expect him to continue to make progress. He’s not that far away.”

Saturday’s game marks the first time Williams has ever gone without a catch in a college football game.

The star wideout will look to get back to 100 percent this week ahead of the Crimson Tide welcoming Tennessee to Bryant-Denny Stadium.
