Ty Simpson is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in CBS Sports college football analyst, Cooper Petagna’s, latest mock 2026 NFL draft.
Petagna has Simpson going to the Saints. The Alabama quarterback has led the Crimson Tide to seven straight wins with his consistent play. He has thrown for 2,184 yards and 22 touchdowns, while only throwing one interception in eight of his starts this season.
“Only eight starts into his career, Simpson’s stellar play in the first half of the season has vaulted him up draft boards as the former five-star firmly establishes himself in the conversation to be the first signal-caller selected next April,” Petagna wrote. “A cerebral assassin with a rare blend of poise, decisiveness and accuracy, the Saints see shades of a familiar face in the Superdome — betting that Simpson’s developing upside and intangibles can usher in a new era under Kellen Moore.”
Simpson remains one of the players in the running to be the next Heisman Trophy winner. Alabama and Simpson are off this week and will return to action next weekend when it hosts LSU.
