Ty Simpson isn’t tooting his own horn in this year’s Heisman Trophy race, but the Alabama quarterbacks’ teammates aren’t afraid to do a little campaigning for him.
“I think he’s the most universal kind of, like, well-rounded quarterback right now,” tight end Josh Cuevas said Thursday. “I mean, I love my guy to death. I’m always gonna pull for him. So, I mean, any argument you shoot at me for anybody else, I’m going to be like, ‘Yeah, I agree. I agree. But, I mean, my guy Ty. My guy Ty, you gotta give it to him.'”
Despite Cuevas’ campaign, Simpson is no longer the front-runner for this year’s Heisman Trophy, according to BetMGM. Instead, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza currently has the best odds at +200, followed by Simpson (+350), Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin (+450) and Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed (+500)
Here’s a look at how the top contenders stack up and what’s coming up next for them heading into Week 10 of the season.
