Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football are preparing for an Oklahoma team the Alabama head coach believes is one of the most complete teams the Tide has faced this season.
The Sooners are 7-2 and are ranked No. 11 in the College Football Playoff Top 25. Oklahoma will be fighting for its playoff lives against No. 4 Alabama Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
DeBoer and company will be looking to keep their conference championship hopes alive, along with their hopes of receiving a bye in the first round of the playoff. This could be a dog fight of a football game because of what DeBoer feels is most impressive about the Sooners.
“They’re a complete team as well,” DeBoer said Wednesday on “Hey Coach & The Kalen DeBoer Show.” “They got a defense that is just really strong across the board. It starts up front with them, and they do a great job against the run. And then they get you in situations where they can get after the passer. And then offensively, it starts with their quarterback. And he can run. He can throw. He understands his system coming with his offensive coordinator. They have some skill with elite speed and explosiveness on the outside. They got some big size up front. And then they also have the specialists, from field goal kicker that can make it from really all spots on the field to a punter that can launch it and get some distance there too. So, they’ve got a complete team, and it’ll be a great matchup.”
Alabama and Oklahoma will get after each other Saturday with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. CST.
