Oklahoma lists veteran defensive back as doubtful ahead of matchup with Alabama

Oklahoma defensive back, Gentry Williams is listed as doubtful in the Oklahoma Sonner’s latest availability report.

Williams is a native of Alabama and is a redshirt junior for the Sooners. He has accounted for 10 tackles, two pass breakups and a tackle for loss this season.

The Alabama native is one of the Sooners’ veteran defensive backs. Oklahoma would love to have him and be at full strength in the secondary against an explosive Alabama passing attack

“They’ve got explosive playmakers from one side of the field to the other,” Venables said while talking to reporters about Alabama earlier this week. “They do a great job. The tight ends are included in that. They make a ton of plays as well, both in the underneath game and the vertical game, but they’ve got length and tremendous catch radius. I think that goes without saying. Their ability to catch the runners underneath is what makes them really dangerous as well. They get them involved in the screen game, but they’re hard to contain.”

Alabama and Oklahoma will battle it out Saturday on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
