Alabama football’s tight end, Josh Cuevas put together his best performance of his time at Alabama Saturday against Oklahoma.

Cuevas continued his role as the Crimson Tide’s Mr. Dependable against the Sooners. He finished the game with 80 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown on six receptions, averaging 13 yards a catch.

The Washington transfer, who is in his second year with the Crimson Tide, feels his teammates opened the field up for him to make plays on Saturday.

“I’ve got to give credit to the rest of the offense,” Cuevas said. “I mean, I can’t get open unless the other guys kind of clear it out for me and kind of do their own job. And that’s what Coach DeBoer really emphasizes in this offense is everybody doing their job. And once we do that, then we’re kind of unstoppable. So, I mean, credit to all the other guys that, over my success, I mean, it’s never just about me.”

Cuevas’ draft stock has continued to be on an upward trajectory due to his dependable play this season. He has pulled in 30 receptions for 341 yards and four scores so far. Ty Simpson recently praised the tight end.

“We can use him in so many different ways,” Simpson said. “And then, us asking him to do the stuff that he does is incredible. The fact that guy came so far from an FCS school to Washington to here and is playing at an All-American level. That dude, he’s my guy. I thank him every day.”

Alabama will have to continue to lean on Cuevas’ consistent play as the season progresses.
